1) Proclaim The Good News Of The Kingdom
‘Kingdom’ is Jesus’ way of talking about power and authority. There are lots of Kingdoms in our world – nation states that set laws and regulations for their citizens, clubs that set out rules to determine a code of conduct for that group, or even a person over their own body – choosing when and what to eat or wear each day. “Good news!”, Jesus said, “The Kingdom of God has come near”. Jesus came declaring that a new way of understanding and viewing the world has come about in his arrival; and in his death and resurrection. It’s the beginning of something truly wonderful – we now get to choose to live within a new Kingdom: one where we give Jesus the power and the authority. Through that, Jesus invites us to see the world in a totally new light altogether. Where the ‘kingdoms’ of this world only see scarcity and threat to “what’s ours”, Jesus shows us that in God’s Kingdom there is abundance and the chance to thrive – even as we continue to live and work on the earth. It’s the beginning of an adventure into a new way of life for all who choose it. And as His followers, Jesus has called US to share this invitation and this new way of seeing as we proclaim the good news of the Kingdom.
