4) Transform unjust structures; challenge violence of every kind; pursue peace and reconciliation

This is proper Kingdom of God stuff right here. As humans have succumbed to the building up of their own kingdoms, violence and injustice have always followed closely behind. It’s not going to be easy, but as followers of Jesus we are called to stand in the gap, to speak up for the oppressed and work with the Holy Spirit to bring about real and lasting change for the good of our society. There will be a kind of violence in each of us too that will need challenging and working on by the grace of God. Jesus said, “In this world you will have trouble, but take heart, I have overcome the world”. What amazing news! But now we’re invited to take part in the working out of all that Jesus did on the cross here in Milton Keynes and beyond.
