If you’ve never been to a Truby’s event, you don’t know what you’ve missed! Started up by Kurshida and her husband (the chef), Truby’s Garden Tea Room is a ‘pop up’ interfaith community café run by Muslim women, which takes place every couple of months in the Guildhall at Christ the Cornerstone Church, Central Milton Keynes. (Kurshida is one of the leaders involved with Citizens:MK – “a growing alliance of diverse communities, acting together for a thriving, inclusive and fairer Milton Keynes”.)
Kurshida explained her vision of embracing 2 cultures through the food that she serves. So you’ll find a tempting and varied menu of extremely tasty Halal dishes alongside traditional English Cream Tea and a delicious selection of cakes. Food is served throughout the afternoon, from 12 noon to 5.00pm, and the food is so good that you will find many families eat at the café and then take more portions home with them to enjoy later! With tablecloths and fresh flowers on the tables and smiling waitress service, you are guaranteed to enjoy the experience. The remaining dates for 2017 (all Saturdays) are:-
Not only is this a wonderful interfaith initiative by itself, but also the proceeds go to help a variety of community causes. Be warned – you’ll need to get there early!
