The “5 Marks of Mission” are characteristics of Christian work which have been adopted by churches all around the world.
Our commitment to these 5 Marks ensures that we don’t simply focus on ourselves and our
churches.
To proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom of God
To teach, baptise and nurture new believers
To respond to human need in loving service
To transform unjust structures of society, challenge violence of every kind and pursue peace & reconciliation
To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation, and sustain & renew the life of the earth

Whilst there might always be a temptation to make sure our church congregations are growing or our own needs are being met, we believe that the primary task of the Church is to demonstrate love, kindness, joy and peace in creative ways in all kinds of places.
To help someone out of debt, to assist an individual escaping addiction, to challenge toxic eadership and to care for the planet are all just as vital as any Sunday service. They are not secondary to our faith, they are expressions of our faith.
Starting from the adoption of our Mission Action Plan in 2024, the deanery is committed to
- Growing Younger
- Becoming More Visible, and
- Demonstrating Health
through our mission activity.
