"A Single Sunbeam" Retreat in Umbria, from 23 - 30 September 2020

Date(s) - 23/09/2020 - 30/09/2020
All Day

“A Single Sunbeam” – Exploring the life and legacy of St Francis of Assisi, from Wednesday 23 to Wednesday 30 September 2020.

This seven day retreat will take you on a journey through the life of St Francis, and into the heart of his faith. Together we will discover what it meant for Francis to be a disciple of Jesus, and how that found expression in peacefulness, prayer, simplicity and service. What can we learn from this humble man, possibly the most well-known and well-loved of all the saints?

Combining times of learning, prayer and worship with visits to some of the iconic places in Francis’ life, we hope this retreat will both surprise and inspire you in your own spiritual journey. There will be opportunities for individual discussion and guidance, as well as plenty of space for quiet reflection.

The retreat leader will be the Revd Sharon Grenham-Thompson, an Anglican parish priest, author and radio broadcaster. In 2018 she presented a week of worship programmes on Radio 4 based on the life of St Francis. Sharon has been ordained for 22 years, and her ministry has included working as a full-time prison chaplain.

Revd Richard Thompson, who will act as chaplain during the retreat, is a professed member of the Third (Lay) Order of St Francis. He has been ordained for over 30 years, 20 of which were as a full-time prison chaplain.
During this holiday retreat, day visits to Assisi and other Franciscan sites will be arranged.
