PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS EVENT HAS HAD TO BE CANCELLED.
A training workshop on the effect of loneliness on our health and wellbeing entitled “Loneliness and Connection” will take place from 9.30 am – 12.30 pm on Saturday 29 September at St Luke’s, Canning Crescent, OX1 4XB. The keynote speaker will be Alison Webster, Deputy Director of Mission (Social Responsibility) for the Diocese of Oxford.
This is a training workshop for everyone – especially those with a pastoral role in churches and communities. There will be time for group work and questions as well as reflection and prayer.
The topic will be introduced by Sheila Furlong, CEO of the Archway Foundation. Sheila is a qualified Adult and Mental Health nurse with experience of working with bereaved children and families.
The Archway Foundation was established in Oxford in 1982 to help relieve some of the real distress caused by loneliness. It connects those feeling alienated with a diverse group of volunteers, many of whom know for themselves how damaging loneliness can be.
Attendance is FREE but donations towards the costs will be gratefully received.
BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL AND NEEDS TO BE DONE BY MONDAY 17 SEPTEMBER AT THE LATEST!
To book, please email firstname.lastname@example.org, using the subject headline “Loneliness: Sat 29 Sept” and include your name, the name of your church and the names of any others attending with you.
St Luke’s is on the main bus route between Oxford and Abingdon and buses are frequent. Parking is not available in the street (except for those with restricted mobility) – the Redbridge Park and Ride is only two minutes’ walk away on the other side of the Abingdon Road.
We are hoping to hire a minibus to take a group of us there, so if you’re interested, please contact Linda (email@example.com).
